# Kariel for Linux 1.0.2 (build 5) First Linux release for Ubuntu 22.04, x86_64 / amd64. ## Downloads - `Kariel.deb`: recommended installation on Ubuntu 22.04. APT installs the required system dependencies. - `Kariel.AppImage`: executable application image. System media and keyring dependencies are still required; this is not a dependency-free package. - SHA-256 checksum files are provided for both downloads. ## Install the DEB From the directory containing the downloaded installer: ```bash sudo apt update sudo apt install ./Kariel.deb ``` Launch Kariel from the applications menu. ## Run the AppImage ```bash chmod +x Kariel.AppImage ./Kariel.AppImage ``` ## Included in this release - Image and video import, thumbnails, previews, and conversion. - PDF thumbnails and viewing. - Protected-folder unlock, encrypted export, and safe managed copies for encrypted imports. - External drag-and-drop import and internal asset linking. - Multiple library windows and window resizing. - Background browser imports while the desktop window is hidden. - Kariel Pack export and import. - Corrected Linux application and Kariel Pack icons. ## Notes - Interactive 3D rendering remains limited and is not a guaranteed feature of this Linux release. - Close may keep Kariel running for background imports. Use Kariel's explicit Quit command to stop it. - Updates are installed manually. Uninstalling the application does not delete libraries or user settings. - ARM64, RPM, Flatpak, and Snap packages are not part of this release.
